The ePortfolio of Joanna Russell Bliss
I enrolled in the Master's of Library Science program at the University of North Texas in August 2019, and I expect to graduate in August 2021. I want to work in an academic library, possibly in user experience or as a subject librarian.
I began working at Southern Methodist University as a Research and User Experience Intern in August 2019; I work the reference desk and do special projects at Fondren Library. I also continue to work as a freelance website manager with a client in California, as I have done since 2008. You can see more examples of my prior work experience on my LinkedIn profile, or at my professional website. If you want to get a sample of my interests, you can also follow me on Twitter.
This portfolio gives a brief look at some of the projects and assignments I have done at UNT, as well as the work I have accomplished at SMU. Since starting my internship, I have led an expansion of our children's literature collection for Education majors to increase diversity, I joined the continuing education and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility committees, and I was part of a team presenting a digital humanities conference at SMU in August 2020. To learn more about what I have already learned and accomplished, as well as what I hope to achieve as a librarian, please contact me at joanna.russell.bliss@gmail.com.
